Hermione de Paula 'Darlingtonia’s Obsession'

Spring/Summer 2012

One of London's most exciting young designers and a graduate of Central Saint Martins, Hermione de Paula's Spring Summer 2012 collection mixes traditional English craftmanship with playfulness and individuality. Inspired by exotic flowers and birds, this jewel-toned collection features hidden surprises where rose petals are actually fish tails and flowers are made of metal or ice. She has worked for luxury labels such as Christian Dior Couture, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Giles and acted as a print consultant for Nicholas Kirkwood before launching her own ready-to-wear label in 2008.

Small Girl Big City

This design was aimed towards DSquared: known for their smart tailoring and intricate work with denim. My muse being a young girl coming from the Bronx moving to Manhattan. Loose yet intricate and colourful detailing from the Bronx shown in the jeans and the sleek tailoring of Manhattan shown in the 100% silk shirt.

Move It Shake It Work It Feel It

2011 has been a massive year for showcasing new models. We've watched careers being made, personalities soar and have seen some amazing editorials in result. Models such as Arizona Muse, Daphne Groeneveld, Lindsey Wixon and Julia Saner have been the ones to watch, securing numerous campaigns, editorials and catwalk shows between them.
So who will take their place in the coming year as the ones to watch??

Magda Laguinge (NEXT) is an Argentinean born model who has walked for Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Chloe, Marc Jacobs and Balenciaga to name a few. She also featured in Renzo Rainero's A/W fashion film.

Lara Mullen (Premier) was accidentally discovered but despite being just 17 years old, the British model has already appeared in Alexander Wang, Prada, Vera Wang, Jonathan Saunders, Topshop Unique and Acne shows.

Chrystal Copland (Fusion Models) was discovered at 14 while shopping with her mum in native Australia. She opened the Louis Vuitton SpringSummer 2012 show and has also walked for designers including Anne Valerie Hash, Antonia Marras and Giles.

Katryn Kruger (IMG) is a South African born beauty who was a Givenchy exclusive, appeared in Calvin Klein Spring 2012 presentation, has featured in Prada Resort 2012 campaign and is currently on the cover of South African Elle for January 2012.

Marni for H&M

It's doubtful, but in case you haven't heard, MARNI will be the next label to collaborate with Swedish high-street brand H&M. The Italian label's founder Consuelo Castiglioni has designed a spring collection which will be coming to a store near you on March 8 2012. Alternatively, if your scavenging skills consist of fast fingers and a quick reach for the mouse you can also purchase pieces from the collection online. Our tips for getting what you want is do your research first; when the day comes make sure you know what you want and plan how you're going to beat everyone else to it, whether that be camping out early or just employing some good old-fashioned elbow attacks and sprinting skills.
The range will feature famous Marni elements such as vivid colours, all over prints, clashing patterns and graphic accessories. Highlights from the womenswear collection include full pleated skirts, dresses, cropped trousers and jacquard knits, in an array of prints and fabrics including silk and crisp cotton.

"I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favourite pieces in signature fabrics and prints," Castiglioni said. "As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colours, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic and adding sporty utilitarian elements."

It was perfect; classic...

“... What’s better than jeans, a black leather jacket, and a white T-shirt? It’s an easy and enduring look and costume that any kid in the world can create. It’s the way you face the street. It’s male, it’s beautiful, it’s tough and it doesn’t date. Probably 50 years from now people will still be wearing black leather jackets and Levi’s.”
-Danny Fields, The Ramones manager, describes their style in the 1970s

The Wild One

I'm a red-hot fox. I can take the knocks
I'm a hammer from hell. Honey, can't you tell?
I'm the wild one. Suzi Quatro.
